Lotus de Wit Jewellery
Lotus de Wit is a jewellery designer and maker based in Belfast, Co Antrim. Her work consists of contemporary jewellery and miniature sculptures.
Lotus graduated from the University of Ulster in 2006 with a Degree in Applied Art, specialising in jewellery. Based on her degree work she was awarded the 'Third Level Award' from the Craft Council of Ireland which gave her the opportunity to develop her own jewellery ranges through a series of short, technical courses in London.
Lotus gained further experience through working in the contemporary jewellery workshop and gallery, 'Golddigger79'. Following this she participated in Craft NI's making it 07 programme at Ards Borough Council.
Currently, Lotus produces a number of jewellery ranges and miniature sculptures using precious metals and gemstones.
"I make jewellery ranges and small silver sculptures, my current work is mainly influenced by insects and mollusks, these provide an endless source for inspiration when working on a small scale. My work expresses a playful sense of narrative which encourages the viewer to pause for a moment and take a closer look at the detail of an object".
