Michael Moore

Michael Moore is a Belfast-based maker of ceramic sculpture. A Council member of the International Academy of Ceramics, he studied at NCAD and lectures at the University of Ulster School of Art and Design.

Michael constructs highly polished, abstract sculpture where the focus in on form. Most of his work is finished in either white or red, the natural fired colours of clay.

“I am interested in building objects by hand. My inspiration is drawn from visual sources such as coastlines and geological markings in landscape. I seek, wherever possible, to pare back clutter, confusion and distraction to reveal a simple, yet challenging form.”

Michaels work has been internationally exhibited and is represented in public collections in Korea, Australia, Taiwan and Ireland. He undertakes private commissions.
