Pia Raeymaekers
Pia Raeymaekers is a Belgian-born glass artist. She studied at the Sint-Lucas Institute in Ghent, Belgium, IKA Mechelen, Belgium, Czech Republic and the University of Sunderland.
Pia is currently based at Flowerfield Arts Centre, Portstewart, where she is artist-in-residence on the making it 09 programme.
Her work is kiln-formed and she specialises in glass casting. The work incorporates balanced tensions; forms counterpoised between opacity and transparency, fragility and strength; and it is organic and abstract in shape.
