Welig Crafts

Welig Crafts is a partnership between Clive Lyttle and Elaine Burke. Clive studied at The University of Ulster and Elaine has a degree from The University of Liverpool; both came to basketry in 1993 through their interest in environmental conservation.

Since 2004, they have been running their own business producing both bespoke functional basketry and sculptural pieces and are increasingly exhibiting their work.

“We find it fulfilling to be totally immersed in the creative process as we grow and harvest our own willow and so are hands-on from start to finish.
Our work has the integrity of being grounded in traditional technique and a real feeling for our materials but remains innovative in design. We work to produce pieces of the highest quality and invite commissions for both functional and sculptural work.”

Welig Crafts offers courses in traditional and contemporary basketry and are available for demonstrations.
