Culture Night 2014Exhibitions
The countdown to Culture Night 2014 is now on. On the 19th of September, come and join Craft NI at the forge for drop-in blacksmithing workshops with metal sculptor Eamonn Higgins (6pm – 9pm, Cotton Court in the Cathedral Quarter, Belfast).
EHOD 2014 Craft ProgrammeExhibitions
European Heritage Open Days is an annual weekend event that gives you the opportunity to look behind the doors of some of Northern Ireland's most historic buildings. This year the event takes place on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th of September and offers free entry to over 400 properties and events - including a range of contemporary craft events.
The first exhibition of the newly formed Arts Jewellery Network (AJN) will be available to view as part of the European Heritage Open Days Programme (13 & 14 September). A travelling exhibition of conceptual work by locally based art jewellers, the exhibition can be also be seen at Culture Night Belfast and at Space CRAFT, Belfast, during October.
Ards Crafts Meet the Maker 2014Exhibitions
Ards Crafts' 'Meet the Maker' programme 2014 offers you a month-by-month opportunity to meet with Ards-based makers through exhibitions, talks and demonstrations taking place throughout the year. In Sept, attend an exhibition by glass artist Keith Sheppard 'Reflections of Nebulae' and attend a workshop with him on hte 6th of September (10.30am to 1pm) . All 'Meet the Maker' events take place in Ards Crafts, Newtownards.
UFTM Creative Arts and Craft Programme 2014/2014Workshops
Kicking off with 'Craft Experience' - a craft and skills event taking place on the 6th of September (10am to 4pm), the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum bring you a packed programme of craft experiences from willow work to tiffany glass to blacksmithing and much more fom now until the end of June 2015.
Learn to Make Handstitched Leather GoodsWorkshops
The Journeyman Saddler is running a two-day course (next 16/17 August), for those who want to learn the basic techniques to produce hand-stitched leather items and have little or no previous experience. The weekend courses take place in Newry.
