Crafts & Skills Day

Workshops18th September, 2010

The Ulster Folk & Transport Museum will mark the launch of its year-long Crafts & Skills programme with a special ‘taster’ day on Saturday, 18 September. Demonstrations of traditional skills such as lace work, spinning, weaving and basket making will take place throughout the Museum.

The Crafts and Skills Day will take place from 11am – 3.30pm and will encourage visitors to learn new skills through a variety of workshops and classes taking place at the museum throughout the year.

On Saturday, visitors will have the opportunity to sample some of the courses and workshops on offer including basket making, candle making, patchwork and blacksmithing.

The workshops and classes on offer range from lace-making to a Ballycultra ‘homemade’ Christmas where participants can make their own festive trimmings over 5 days. The programme also includes classes in weaving on a tableloom.

Entry to the folk side of the Museum for this event is free using the voucher at the back of the Creative Arts and Crafts Programme booklet.  The voucher can also be downloaded from the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum website. For more information contact 028 9042 8428.
