Culture Night Belfast 2011

Exhibitions23rd September, 2011

Craft NI invites you to get hands on with craft for Culture Night 2011 as part of our current exhibition which celebrates the craft of weaving.

Join textile artists Jenny Haslett and Michelle Stephens as part of their exciting exhibition, Fragments, to produce a collaborative woven piece of textile on a table loom. All fabrics are made by weaving two sets of yarns or threads. The threads which run lengthways are called the warp and the threads which run across from side to side are the weft. On the night the weaving loom will be set up with a metal warp and members of the public will be invited to weave into this with a cotton and linen weft.

This unique hands-on event will be accompanied by artist’s talks and demonstrations to accompany the exhibited work throughout the evening. Craft NI supports and promotes the contemporary craft industry in Northern Ireland. Find Craft NI on Facebook and follow us on twitter @Craftni.

Culture Night is a fantastic example of arts organisations working collaboratively to produce weird, wonderful and free activities for everyone to enjoy. We invite you to choose your own personal Culture Night Belfast adventure from what's on offer.
