A dynamic exhibition featuring new works in glass and ceramics by emerging designer-makers, Rachel Dickson & Alison Lowry, at Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre until 23 April 2011. This exhibition of new work by dynamic young makers Alison Lowry and Rachel Dickson explores how memories can be expressed in different materials and forms, encapsulating the fabric of our lives.
Alison Lowry is a glass artist and Rachel Dickson is a ceramist, but both makers draw their inspiration from textiles.
Specialising in glass, Alison Lowry’s work is innovative, combining traditional glass fusing techniques with more contemporary technologies, she creates a diverse and unique range of sculptural glass pieces. Since graduating from the University of Ulster in 2009, Alison has won multiple crafts awards.
Rachel Dickson graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2011 with an MA in ceramics and glass. Since 2004, she has also held the post of Associate Lecturer in Foundation Studies in Art and Design at the University of Ulster. She explores ideas of memory through the medium of porcelain, paperclay and paper and has exhibited throughout the UK and North America.
The exhibition is open Monday-Friday 9.30am-5pm and Saturday 10am-2pm. Both exhibiting artists are giving a talk on their creative practice and the exhibition on Tuesday 5 April at 6pm. Admission is free but places should be reserved by contacting the Box Office on 028 7776 0650.
