Craft NI’s activities and programmes for 2011

We’re looking forward to an exciting year in 2011. Here are some of ways you can get involved:
August Craft Month
The theme for ACM 11 is Craft Chat and we invite you to register early with your events. Submit your events ideas for this year’s programme from January 2011. Contact Craft NI for more information.
Directory & Craft Map
Craft NI is calling for applications from craft businesses interested in being profiled on Craft NI’s online directory of contemporary craft. Selected applicants will receive editorial and photography support. View the directory at www.craftni.org/directory.
We’ve also developed an online Craft Map. Craft NI is calling for applications from craft studios and galleries/shops to be listed on its online craftmap.
Marketing Campaigns
In addition to August Craft Month’s publicity campaign we are also promoting craft during November / December and again around Valentines Day 2011. These campaigns aim to increase the visibility of the craft sector through a programme of craft activities as well as gift ideas listed on Craft NI’s website.
Winter campaign
To date the November / December campaign has run 15 regional billboards, distribution of 100,000 ‘Unique’ fliers, newspaper advertising, competitions to win gift vouchers for craft and promotional campaigns with Ulster Orchestra and Sugahfix.
Valentines campaign – Craft NI is developing a programme of workshops to run in February. We’re inviting designer-makers to submit workshop ideas that showcase high-skilled craftsmanship and also enable participants to produce a specific gift or piece of work for someone special. Contact emma@craftni.org for more information.
Making it 2011 & Business Development Programme
making it continues to support new business start-ups in craft. 24 designer-makers have now been through the programme and we’re now recruiting for making it 2011. You can apply for a placement on this 2-year craft business start-up programme beginning in November 2011.
The Business Development Programme which supports the participants over the two-years is now open to all designer-makers and the next module ‘Innovation Through Design’ will take place in February 2011.
