Creative Industries inject £582 million into NI economy

The Minister met with a number of successful businesses, including goldsmith Garvan Traynor, that have received funding from the Creative Industries Innovation Fund, administered by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

Among them was goldsmith Garvan Traynor whose work has been commissioned for film productions including City of Ember and Closing the Ring; Liam McGarry from Wee Man Studios who design video games and apps; and Stuart Baillie from the Oh Yeah Centre in Belfast which houses studios and rehearsal spaces for local musicians.

The Creative Industries, which include innovation in the areas of film, craft, digital media and publishing, currently employ over 33,000 people in Northern Ireland and generate £582million annually. 

Each of the businesses spoke with the Minister and explained how the investment had enabled them to significantly enhance their businesses offering.
