NI 2012 Olympic Public Art Project Launched

Nest is an Artists Taking the Lead project for the London 2012 Festival funded by Arts Council Northern Ireland and will take place at T13 in the heart of the Titanic Quarter, Belfast on 20th, 21st & 22nd of July 2012.
What is Nest?
“a glorious and poignant celebration of Northern Ireland. The coming together of thousands of individual possessions, thoughts, words, sounds and voices for the making of a single landscape, a single sound...a single Nest.” Brian Irvine & John McIlduff (Artistic Directors of Nest).
- Nest is an art installation made from thousands of donated objects.
- Nest is a gigantic musical performance involving over 500 performers and the Ulster Youth Orchestra.
- Nest is an archive of photos, labels, stories and films.
An unusual census, Nest is a unique study of life in Northern Ireland: a collection of individual moments and hidden stories revealed through the objects that line our nests.
How to get involved
The launch invites the public to donate a household object that is of personal significance, small or great. Objects and stories will be filmed and photographed as part of the creation of a unique Nest archive and will form part of the installation and performance. Donate your object, tell your story, be a performer. For more information on how to get involved please visit the website or email NEST.
