The Old Courthouse reopens with an exhibition of woodturnings

During August, the Old Courthouse presents an exhibition of craft by the 'Woodsmith': Danish artist Hans-Henning Pedersen.
Hans turns large scale, paper thin wooden vessels using beech and ash found locally on the island of Bornholm where he lives and works. He makes unique pieces of timeless beauty, working with the wood grain and the imperfections of the material to enhance the beauty of nature. The bowls he creates are clean, simple forms so that the grain and the beauty of the wood shine through. Using wood as the medium for this work was his natural choice for this artist who has been working as a carpenter, cabinetmaker and wood turner since 1975.
The Woodsmith will be on show in the auditorium of The Old Courthouse, Antrim from Monday 16 August – Friday 3 September daily. The exhibition will be open on Monday – Friday from 9am – 5.30pm and on Saturdays from 10am – 3pm. Admission is free.
This exhibition is presented in association with flow gallery, London and is part of Craft NI’s August Craft Month initiative.
The opening of the restored Old Courthouse in Antrim presents a new venue for arts and cultural events on a year round basis in the new multi-purpose auditorium.
