Call for Entries: Stevens Architectural Glass Competition 2011

Entries are now welcomed for the 2011 Stevens Architectural Glass Competition.
The competition is to design a glass feature for the Macmillan Centennial Wall in the new University College London Hospital Cancer Centre, on Euston Road, London. The glass feature will be situated in the Macmillan Wellbeing and Therapy Room.
2011 is Macmillan’s Centenary and the theme of the artwork is to be 'The Fabric of Life'. It expresses the weaving of the threads of a person’s life: vibrant in health, extenuated in illness, coloured by experience and formed by interaction.
The artwork may be a continuous piece of glass or separate related pieces positioned on the Centennial Wall. A backlit panel or panels are not envisaged, but specialised lighting may be introduced to enhance the artwork. Competitors may assume that the wall will be white, but may indicate another preference in their proposal.
The entries will be judged by a panel of professional glass artists and designers. A commission may be awarded to a winning competitor at the discretion of the sponsor.
Competition structure:
- Stage one: Enter online by 24 March 2011.
- Stage two: Submit design work and sample panel piece by 31 March 2011.
- Stage three: All competitors will be invited to the prize giving ceremony on 4 May 2011 where finalists' work will be displayed.
There are no restrictions on the number of competitors that can be entered. This competition is called the Stevens competition and is organised by The Worshipful Company of Glaziers and Painters of Glass, supported by Pro Skills.
