Call for responses: Creative & Cultural Skills Questionnaire on the Sector’s Qualification Strategy

Calls for Makers9th March 2011 - 29th March 2011

The Creative & Cultural Skills Sector Qualifications Strategy (SQS) is due to expire in 2011. They would like to refresh this document and are inviting key stakeholders including the craft industry to get involved.

As a Sector Skills Council, Creative & Cultural Skills has an important role to play in the development of qualifications to ensure that they are fit for purpose and respond to the needs of our industries.  Qualifications include GCSEs, A Levels, vocational qualifications, S/NVQs, Apprenticeships frameworks, Foundation Degrees and Higher Education provision.

A key objective of this strategy is to support the shift towards a qualifications and training system which is demand led – that is, responsive to employer needs.  To support this, we need you to tell us what you want and need from qualifications and training so that we may work with key stakeholders to ensure this is achieved.

To support this, we have in place a Sector Qualifications Strategy (SQS) which outlines the current and future education and training needs of employers in the creative and cultural sectors.  It sets out a strategy to improve qualifications and training to ensure that current and future skills needs are being met.

Our current Sector Qualifications Strategy (SQS) is due to expire in 2011, so we are taking the opportunity to refresh this document based on consultation with key stakeholders, including industry and Awarding Organisations.  The refreshed Sector Qualifications Strategy will set out a clear strategy, agreed with industry, to inform future qualification development across each of our sub-sectors.  It will also set out a strategy to inform the rationalisation of existing qualifications to ensure that they are fit for purpose and fully reflective of and responsive to the changing needs of industry.

To get involved, please download the draft strategy and answer the questions on page 1 and emailing your reponse to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) by Monday 28th March.
