As part of the August Craft Month 2013 programme, Craft NI are hosting a series of key talks given by industry experts exploring approaches to retail markets, product pricing, and the use of e-commerce / social media to successfully develop craft businesses.





Des Mulholland is an experienced Management Consultant with a proven track record of success in the retail sector. Des will deliver seminars on using social media to develop your craft business and on how to see your craft product to retailers, in order to inspire craft makers to maximise their exposure and their ability to sell products in the retail sector.

DO WHAT YOU DO BEST: A guide to getting the most out of the internet for designer-makers

The internet is an exciting new medium for designer-makers but it demands time and energy. There is a misconception that maintaining a website or online selling space steals time from making while forcing the creative mind to think in an uncreative way.

In this half day seminar, Christopher Murphy explores how craftspeople can embrace social media - tools like Facebook and Twitter - to increase audience engagement and, as a result, increase sales. Introducing social strategies used by a range of craft professionals, Christopher shows the benefit social media can offer the crft sector through adding value, buildling networks and ultimately driving sales.
