Craftspace - Routes to Trade

Craftspace and The Community Integration Partnership (Birmingham) are seeking a contemporary craftmaker to facilitate residency workshops for refugee and newly-arrived women.
The core aim of the seven-month residency is to develop a structure and skills to create a craft social enterprise. We are seeking a contemporary craft practitioner for the next phase of the project.
Participants will be led through a series of experiences working with the selected maker to produce both batch produced items and larger inspiration pieces, whilst developing a strong creative practice.
It is envisaged the group will work with local small businesses to produce some items. Pieces will be produced with a view to exhibiting at contemporary craft fairs.
Throughout the project, documentation will play an important role as a vehicle for reflection, analysis and evaluation.
It is envisaged that we will be asking for a commitment of 24 days between January and July, with 18 days of workshops, the remaining days for planning, constructing work and evaluation.
Owing to the participants being of an all women’s group from a range of faiths, this opportunity is limited to female applicants. This contract is covered by the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, Section 7(2) (e) and is specifically for a woman worker.
