EU Vocational Training Programme for Organisations involved in vocational training. Leonardo da Vinci is a European Community programme which aims to support national training strategies through funding a range of transnational partnership projects aimed at improving quality, fostering innovation and promoting the European dimension in vocational training.

It encourages collaboration between organisations involved in vocational training, aiming to improve the quality of training provision, develop the skills and mobility of the workforce, stimulate innovation and enhance the competitiveness of European industry.

Application Criteria

The programme is open to any public, semi-public or private organisation can apply for Leonardo funding.

All applications must be supported by a partnership of European organisations. The application process (and the minimum number of partners required) varies according to the type of project.

The programme provides funding for six types of project including:

‘Mobility’ – Work placements and trainer exchanges

Pilot Projects – Production of training materials to develop innovation & quality in training. (incl. Thematic Actions)

Transnational Networks – Facilitating the transfer and exchange of experience and good practice

In Northern Ireland, projects funded by Leonardo da Vinci include The Sustainable Craft Networks Partnership which brings together grouping of craft producers from five member states. The Partnership researches, investigates and shares knowledge, know-how and good practice on how to assist both craft businesses themselves and the networks of which they are part to become more sustainable.
