Public Art Commission: Dungiven Library

Commissions25th December 2011 - 27th January 2012
Dungiven Library (c) RVACC

Visual artists working in all genres are invited to submit proposals for a permanent outdoor artwork to be located externally to the Dungiven Public Library, Main Street, Dungiven, County Derry/Londonderry. Deadline for submission is 5pm, 27 January 2012.

The Dungiven area has a wealth of folklore and legends and it is envisaged that the commissioned work will reflect this strong local cultural heritage, demonstrating timelessness, artistic excellence, quality and being sympathetic to the local environment. Completion of the project will also involve community engagement through the facilitation of local creative arts activities.

The commission will be assessed in a two stage process. Stage 1 requires an outline concept proposal and Stage 2 will involve detailed submission and liaison with shortlisted artists. The total budget for the development, creation and installation of the awarded commission is £36,600. This includes costs for community residency workshops facilitation and materials, commissioning fee and production/presentation costs.
