This programme has been set up to assist with costs associated with participation in trade/retail fairs/shows (referred to throughout as ‘Event’), outside of the island of Ireland.

The objectives of the programme are to:

• develop export capacity and support business growth within the craft sector;
• develop new markets and support additional sales for designer-makers
• profile the quality of NI contemporary craft.

Makers will be asked to identify up to three events which they would like to attend and both applicants and the events they have identified must meet Craft NI quality criteria (see Downloadable Information below). The application must illustrate the business benefits of attending a specific event and priority will be given to either first time exhibitors at a trade fair/ show or those who are attending a show for the second or third time consecutively.

Applicants may consider attending an event with another craft business in order to achieve economies of scale, however, Craft NI can only consider applications on an individual basis.

The maximum amount of available support will be £500 per applicant. Applicants are advised to read the guidelines thoroughly before making an application and may contact Craft NI in advance if unsure of the eligibility of a specific event.

The event for which support has been given must be fully completed and all expenditure incurred by 31 August 2012.

The Export Development Programme will run from December 2011 – August 2012.  Applications are now accepted on a rolling basis.
