4-day Intensive Throwing Workshop with Fiona Shannon

Join experienced local potter Fiona Shannon at Flowerfield Arts Centre during August Craft Month to learn the basics of throwing on the Pottery wheel. In this 4-day Masterclass you will learn and improve upon the basics of throwing on the pottery wheel. You will also master techniques to refine your work such as trimming the bases, adding handles, spouts and textures to your pots. If you already have experience working in clay and wish to improve upon your skills Fiona will happily demonstrate and assist you with this.

Fiona Shannon is currently the Artist in Residence as Flowerfield Arts Centre. Fiona holds a BA Hons Degree in Contemporary Applied Arts from University of Ulster, Belfast and a Diploma in Ceramic Skills and Design from the prestigious Thomastown Pottery, Kilkenny.

This series of workshops will run:
Tuesday 16 August, 10:00 – 16:00
Wednesday 17 August, 10:00 – 16:00
Thursday 18 August, 10:00 – 16:00
Friday 19 August, 10:00 – 15:00

£210 includes materials and kiln firings (up to 3 bags of clay, any additional clay can be purchased for a small additional fee).

Access:

Hearing-impaired infra-red system in the auditorium and induction loop at our Box Office/reception. Guide dog, Hearing dogs and Registered Assistance Dogs are welcome to our venue, including the auditorium. Wheelchair access is available throughout the building and our auditorium for wheelchair seats/transfers. We have a low-level counter at our Box Office and Visitor Information desk. We have adapted toilets on our ground floor immediately behind our reception and also on our first floor. A lift is available from our ground floor to our first floor.
