Crafts Council Policy Brief July 2021

29 July 2021

Crafts Council’s latest Policy Brief highlights new research from the Creative Industries Federation, which describes how essential the UK’s creative industries are and makes a series of employment and investment related recommendations in the face of Westminster cuts to arts education.

The accompanying Oxford Economics report, Developing Economic Insight into the Creative Industries shows what increased investment in the creative industries could achieve: for every £1 generated by craft businesses the supply chain currently supports another 70p made elsewhere.

Elsewhere the research addresses issues of unequal distribution of support and accessibility as well as highlighting the value of culture in local visitor attractions.
