SUMMARY:Ceramics Summer Class at Befast Met
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is designed with both the beginner and the more experienced ceramics student in mind. Those with no experience of clay will be taught the basics of clay working to include the main hand building methods such as coiling\, slab-building and press-moulding. Those students returning to ceramics will be given individual attention as required\, and self-directed projects can be discussed with the tutor. \nStudents will also gain valuable experience in the safe use of decorating techniques such as glazing\, decorating and texture as well as the correct handling of materials and equipment. \nYou do not require any previous experience for this course and there are no formal assessments.

DESCRIPTION:Selected jewellery exhibition by 21 ACJSNI members (and invited guest makers) featuring variations on the idea of a brooch. \nACJSNI (Association for Contemporary Jewellery and Silversmiths NI) is a regional branch of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery\, whose members include those who make jewellery\, associated designers and craftspeople\, educators\, students\, galleries\, museum curators\, retailers\, critics\, collectors\, and people who want to learn more about contemporary jewellery. \nThe ACJSNI mission is to showcase and support the jewellery and Silversmithing community who live and work in Northern Ireland. \n‘Pinned’ was first shown in Craft NI in November 2020. \nFor this second showing at R-Space Gallery\, there are some new makers with new work\, while some jewels now reside with new owners! \n‘PINNED – on Linen’ at R-Space also showcases images of work produced during lockdown by Year 11 pupils from Lagan College and Antrim Grammar School. \nOpening reception Saturday 7 August
