SUMMARY:'Art of the Possible'
DESCRIPTION:Over the past decade\, the Ulster Museum has collected a significant number of  important artworks from around the world—many of which have never been seen by the public until now. \nArt of the Possible features over 40 artworks made from glass\, ceramics\, silver\, metalwork\, jewellery\, and wood. These works were created by some of the most talented and important artists and designers working in these materials today.

SUMMARY:In Search of Light
DESCRIPTION:A solo exhibition by visual Karen Hamilton which translates the intangible phenomenon of light – the force that enables us to see and engage with our environment – into tangible woven textiles. Showcasing work developed throughout the artist’s undergraduate degree and new experimental weaving\, Hamilton explores the characteristics of light\, both artistically through colour and form\, and scientifically. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe collection celebrates weaving heritage through techniques and materials\, particularly linen and cotton associated with Ards and North Down.  Affirming the contemporary relevance of weaving at the intersection of art\, craft and science\, this immersive installation invites viewers to observe light closely and experience its potential.

SUMMARY:Surface Matters Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:In this exhibition Claire French explores how both form and surface of a vessel can embody a personal narrative and energy\, enabling exploration of human memory and experience. While the surface encompasses artistic expression\, it also acts as a canvas extending the narrative within the form. Eroded\, scraped surfaces will metaphorically reflect how time wears down body and mind\, transforming alluring\, smooth textures into dry\, skins that are not what they seem. \nThough visually appealing\, surfaces can evoke memory through touch. Using burnishing\, scraping and dry glazing\, Claire has created tactile works inviting connection\, questioning what lies beneath\, and encouraging personal reflection through organic vessels of varying forms. \nThe opening night is on 27 August from 7-9pm. SUMMARY:A Thirst for Silver
DESCRIPTION:Contemporary British Silversmiths\, the leading organisation dedicated to contemporary silver in the United Kingdom\, is delighted to present A Thirst for Silver at Craft NI Gallery\, Belfast! The exhibition opens on Late Night Art Belfast Thursday 3rd September at 6pm and runs until Saturday 31st October. \nA Thirst for Silver showcases the work of more than fifty members of Contemporary British Silversmiths\, spanning generations and stages of practice — from recent graduates and emerging makers to internationally recognised master silversmiths.  \n  \n  \n  \nThe focus of the exhibition is a single form: the silver beaker.  Each maker has interpreted the silver beaker in their own distinctive way\, and the  resulting collection reveals an extraordinary range of approaches\, from traditional techniques and meticulous craftsmanship to contemporary experimentation and highly individual artistic expression. \nThe silver beaker has a rich association with ceremony and ritual. Vessels for drinking have long played a role in shared toasts\, celebrations\, significant occasions and enduring traditions. In A Thirst for Silver\, this familiar object becomes a starting point for exploring the relationship between maker\, material\, object and user. \nThe works reveal the  transformative potential of silversmithing: the ability to take a precious material and\, through skill\, imagination and craftsmanship\, create an object that is not only beautiful but also capable of carrying meaning\, memory and connection. \nThe exhibition coincides with the organisation’s 30th Annual General Meeting at the Ulster Museum and shines a light on the organisation’s ongoing role in supporting and celebrating the evolving practice of silversmithing in the UK.

SUMMARY:From the Far Wide to the Near Shore Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:A series of strange objects and works on paper conjure imagined places and lives. Combining found\, made\, and fabricated elements from shoreline wanderings and imaginative meanders; Stuart’s work reflects a deep relationship with landscape and material culture. \nStuart Cairns is an Irish artist exploring liminal environments—hinterlands\, tidelines\, and fringe spaces—through walking\, photography\, drawing\, and collecting. \nThis exhibition presents sculptural objects that merge fabricated metal with found and natural materials\, suggesting tools and implements both familiar and ambiguous. Alongside these\, drawings and paintings evoke the half-imagined landscapes from which they emerge. \nStuart’s work is held in major public collections\, including the Ulster Museum and National Museum of Ireland. \nThe open evening of the exhibition is on 24 September\, 7pm-9pm.
