SUMMARY:2026 RDS Craft Awards
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis exhibition marks a new partnership between the Royal Dublin Society and the National Museum of Ireland. \nCurated by Dee Morgan of the RDS\, the exhibition presents work by the 12 shortlisted makers from the 2026 RDS Craft Awards\, offering visitors an opportunity to experience some of the most exciting contemporary craft being produced in Ireland. \nThe shortlist features six emerging makers: Jack Ó Meara (Kenmare Needlepoint Lace)\, Camilla Hanney (Ceramics)\, Muck Murphy (Woodturning and Vernacular Furniture)\, Luke E. Holden (Glass)\, Sam Gleeson (Metalsmith and Knife Making) and Kate O’Neill (Sculpture\, Ceramics and Textiles). \nThey are joined by six established makers: Emma Bourke (Glass)\, Pierce Healy (Jewellery and Objects)\, Zsiri Melinda Dempsey (Ceramics)\, Andrea Spencer (Glass)\, Frances Crowe (Tapestry Weaving) and Róisín Pierce (Textile Design and Craft). \nSelected following a competitive call for applications from Ireland and internationally\, the shortlist spans disciplines including ceramics\, textiles\, wood\, glass\, metal\, jewellery\, weaving and lace\, reflecting the breadth of contemporary craft practice today. \nBy placing contemporary makers alongside Ireland’s material heritage\, the show highlights craft as a living\, evolving practice\, rooted in tradition and engaging with modern life. It also reconnects two institutions with shared roots\, with the National Museum of Ireland originating from collections transferred from the RDS in 1877. \n  \nFind out more here.

SUMMARY:Bernat Klein: Influence & Inspiration
DESCRIPTION:  \nCraft NI Gallery in partnership with Belfast School of Art\, Live Borders Museums & Galleries and The Bernat Klein Foundation\, is delighted to present a capsule exhibition of selected work that shares the legacy of Bernat Klein (1922 – 2014)\, textile designer and manufacturer\, artist and colourist. \n  \nColour connects every aspect of Klein’s creative practice that lasted a lifetime. Whether in his innovation of 1960s couture mohair tweeds or printed textiles\, or evident in his work as an artist and colourist. Klein encompassed the importance of place in exploring his visual language of colour and texture. \n  \nThere will also be a sister exhibition (details to follow) at Belfast School of Art and a symposium in November. Both exhibitions illustrate Klein’s influence across design\, architecture\, visual arts\, as well as his significant creative and cultural contribution to Scotland. Original archive pieces give context to the work of contemporary practitioners who have been inspired by The Klein legacy\, and which still holds relevance today. \n  \nWho was Bernat Klein? \nSerbian born designer Bernat Klein (1922 – 2014) emigrated to the UK in the post-war period and based his textile manufacturing business in the Scottish Borders (1951 – 1992). In a career spanning six decades\, Klein found international success in the interlarded spheres of visual arts\, fashion\, textiles design\, architecture\, industrial design\, and colour consultancy. He sold couture fabrics to leading couriers such as Chanel and Dior\, gained recognition in Scandinavia and North America\, and realised two important buildings with modernist architect Peter Womersley (1923 – 1993). \n  \n  \n
