The exhibition showcases the work of fifty members of Contemporary British Silversmiths\, bringing together makers at every stage of their careers – from recent graduates to internationally recognised master silversmiths. It reflects the breadth\, diversity and vitality of contemporary silversmithing across the UK. \nJoin Katherine McDonald in conversation with Cara Murphy\, Richard Fox\, Rauni Higson\, Ben Ryan\, Jessica Jue and Morvarid Alavifard for an insightful discussion exploring the exhibition\, their individual practices and the vibrant world of contemporary silversmithing. \nThis is an opportunity to hear directly from leading contemporary silversmiths about their work\, inspirations and approaches to the craft.

SUMMARY:Fused Glass Winter Landscape
DESCRIPTION:Join expert glass artist Keith Sheppard for this colourful fused glass workshop to create a 24cm x 20cm freestanding curved glass landscape or two flat 24cm x 10cm glass landscapes. Working with different coloured glass\, Keith will teach participants various design techniques\, demonstrate the tools required for glass cutting and how to work safely and handle glass with confidence. Participants are welcome to bring some landscape images for inspiration. The completed fused glass landscapes will be taken back to Keith’s studio for firing and returned to the venue one to two weeks later for collection. \n\nAll tools and materials will be provided. Participants may wish to bring their own safety glasses. Please wear suitable clothing and flat shoes. Please note\, participants must be at least 16 years old.

DESCRIPTION:Learn basic metalsmithing techniques and create silver jewellery. \nIn this one day workshop you will make a unique pair of silver earrings. You will be encouraged to incorporate your own design ideas within the guided process and available materials. \nYou will learn how to saw and shape silver\, try simple soldering techniques\, and receive some tips and tricks on how to finish the piece to a high standard. \nThe workshop is intended for complete beginners\, but if you already have experience in jewellery making\, you will be able to advance or refresh your skills as well.  \nAll tools and materials are provided.

SUMMARY:Festive Botanical Printing
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop participants will explore the process of mono-printing using seasonal foliage to create a selection of hand-printed designs. Tutor Ruth Osborne will introduce the techniques of applying inks and paints to foliage to create natural linen artworks. \n\nParticipants will also learn about some of the folklore of the foliage used and its links to the celebration of the festive season. Participants will have the opportunity to create a range of pieces during the session that they can frame or turn into beautiful cards and gift tags. \n\nThis is a workshop suitable for beginners and all materials are provided. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n
