Heritage Crafts Woodworker of the Year
22 August 2022
Deadline: September 2, 2022
Axminster Tools and Heritage Crafts have come together and have launched the Woodworker of the Year Award which aims to celebrate a heritage crafts person who has made an outstanding contribution to woodworking over the past year.
This award will recognise a maker who has a proven dedication to woodworking. The awards are free to enter and applicants can nominate themselves or can be nominated by others. The award is open to practitioners of any craft that use wood as their primary material. For example, wheelwrighting, boatbuilding, timber framing, marquetry, guitar making etc. Makers of composite objects are eligible as long as over half the material used is worked wood.
This winter there will be a gala reception for the award where the winner will receive a £2,000 prize.
How to enter
To be eligible, over 50 per cent of the solid volume of the objects you make must be wood. Anyone, including the maker themselves, can nominate for this award. It is advised that you write up your application in a separate word document and copy and paste your answers over so you don’t lose any work.
- Please read the application notes before applying.

Nominations close on Friday 2 September 2022 at 5pm.
