Mourne Textiles have announced their collaboration with twentytwentyone and The Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation.

To mark their twenty-fifth anniversary, twentytwentyone have released a limited series of the iconic Robin Day Reclining Chair, upholstered in Mourne Textile’s Cloughmore fabric. Originally designed in 1952, the Reclining Chair is considered to be one of Days’ most successful and iconic designs.

Twentytwentyone co-founder, Simon Alderson ended his search for a ‘uniquely textured fabric’ after coming across Cloughmore, an updated twist on an archive fabric was respectfully reworked and selected for the role. A fascinating journey for this particular fabric which was first created in 1972 by  Mourne Textiles Founder, Gerd Hay-Edie.  It was originally designed for iconic, British furniture designer Hille as ‘Grey Rustic Mist’ – however, the initial design would never see production, as the price of the specialist, customised yarns, were deemed too expensive at the time and so the design was carefully documented and entered into the archives until this fresh collaboration brought it back to life.
