Open Call: Rain Play

A prototype commission for a mobile Rain Play installation has been released, encouraging applications from makers, craftspeople, artists, designers, architects and experimental builders.
Axis Ballymun, in Dublin are seeking applications for this opportunity, focusing on responses to the climate crisis. A pilot project to design and build a prototype, mobile installation, that is fun and engaging when it rains. This installation should be durable and able to be loaned to primary schools and community groups.
The selected maker will be allowed a period of research and development during the summer, followed by 4 sessions in September with Ballymun primary school children to develop and refine the design. The actual installation should take place in October 2022.

Send the following items, either as a written document or a video or audio file (maximum five minutes via google drive or wetransfer if possible) to axisplayground@gmail.com before 6pm, Friday the 24th of June:
- Statement of Interest to include a description of why and how Rain Play intersects with, and benefits your current practice (max 500 words). You are welcome to include initial thoughts on how you would approach the Rain Play project.
