Open Call: Royal Society of Sculptors

The Royal Society of Sculptors, is open to applications from new members.
The society champions sculpture and the artists who create it. As a member, you will join their professional network of sculptors across the world. Membership gives you access to “expert knowledge, advice and opportunities, expands your network and keeps you to up to date”. It also gives you recognition: Members and Fellows can use professional accreditation after their name, MRSS and FRSS accordingly.
How to apply:
The Society welcomes applications from professional artists who work in three dimensions as a significant part of a coherent professional practice.
The successful applicant will:
- Distinctive and high quality work which adds to the language of sculpture
- A critically engaged practice with contemporary understanding
- Accomplished use of materials, techniques and processes
The sculptor members of our Board review all applications and select new Members by majority vote. There are two rounds of applications each year, in March and September.
Within your application please include:
A CV (no more than two pages) in pdf format
Artist statement (250 words max)
Up to 10 images (1MB or less and that it is a JPEG, TIFF or PNG file format). The selection committee would prefer images of completed sculptures in the first instance, with images of proposed pieces or renderings limited to a maximum of 2 uploads.
A link to your website
Established, national or international, professional artists who make sculpture in any of its forms as a significant part of a coherent professional practice, whose work adds to the language of sculpture and who can demonstrate a high level of expertise, experience, and contemporary understanding.
Closing date for Summer 2022 membership applications: 5pm Monday 22 August 2022
You will be notified via email of the outcome of your application by the end of September.
Please note, there is a membership application fee of £43 which is non-refundable.
