Training Proposals for the SCREEN Cluster training initiative 2024/25

The SCREEN CLUSTER is an initiative designed to identify skills shortages and co-ordinate skills and training opportunities for crew in Northern Ireland.
Funded by National Lottery funding from the British Film Institute (BFI) and delivered by Northern Ireland Screen in consultation with industry, the SCREEN cluster will support the skills development and professional growth of local crew and aspiring crew.
In line with UK-wide screen industry initiatives to create a more inclusive industry we will prioritise applications from underrepresented groups.
SCREEN’s mission:
To elevate the skill set of crew in Northern Ireland they are implementing a three pronged approach:
1. Pathways – To Improve the pathways from school to further and higher education into the screen industry.
2. Continuing Professional Development – To address skills and knowledge gaps for freelance crew, production companies and their staff (e.g. Business Affairs, Leadership, Wellbeing, Sustainability etc).
3. Innovative Technologies – To ensure that Northern Ireland can take advantage of new opportunities in Virtual Production, Visual Effects, and Postproduction.
SCREEN have identified the following training priorities for 24-25:
• Locations Department
• Production Office
• Art Department
• Large Scale HOD’s
• Costume Department
• Virtual Production
• Animation
• Post Production
And will accept all proposals that meet the criteria set out within the guidelines.

The next deadline is 20th September, applicants notified by 31st October.
Proposals can be sent in at any time. Funds will be allocated from the start of each financial year. Therefore, you are encouraged to send in your proposal to ensure there is budget cover for the project. Projects may be deferred by the Panel into a new financial year.
