A Craftivist approach to fashion with Sarah Corbett

7 March 2024

Deadline: March 20, 2024

Meet Sarah Corbett, founder of the global Craftivist Collective at a talk on ethics and sustainability in fashion and textiles at:

Craft NI Gallery
115-119 Royal Avenue
Belfast

On the 20th March at 12.30pm

Beginning her career working for global anti-poverty organisation Oxfam, Sarah now leads Craftivist Collective. CC partners with campaigning organisations to use craft and creativity as the tools to make lasting impressions with decision-makers aiming to bring about positive change in society.

Notably, her campaign during London Fashion week in 2017 raised awareness of a number of sustainability issues in the industry, particularly highlighting conditions for workers in the garment trade overseas. Sarah will share some of her experiences and knowledge as an active observer of the sector and its journey in increasing sustainability.

There’ll also be the opportunity for a making activity led by Sarah and created in collaboration with Fashion Revolution.

To ensure we have enough materials for this fun and thought-provoking activity, RSVP is essential by booking your place here. If you have any issues with booking please contact info@craftni.org.

All craft resources supplied and ethically sourced.

No craft skills needed.

Suitable for 14+

Co-creator of the Girlguiding Craftivism badge, Corbett’ new book The Craftivist Collective Handbook is published 2nd May 2024.
