Bags of Style
About the event
Join the Ulster Folk Museum’s textile curator, Valerie Wilson, for this one day practical sewing workshop. With Valerie’s guidance you will create a bag using linen fabric and decorative trims.
Inspired by original textiles in the collection at the Ulster Folk Museum, this workshop will focus on creative ways to use small amounts of fabric, and recycling remnants to make bags for every day, sustainable use. Cut down on the use of plastic bags, recycle fabrics and enjoy exercising your ‘maker’ muscles in good company and a unique setting.
This workshop will involve both hand and machine stitching – basic sewing skills would be an advantage but not a requirement.
- All patterns, fabric and equipment will be provided.
- Lunch is not included but feel free to bring a picnic to enjoy at one of our many outdoor benches, or alternatively the Ballycultra Tearoom will be open.
