About the event
This group exhibition will feature the work of 13 local and international artists where linen either as story, medium or substrate is the connecting theme across a diverse range of fine and applied art practices.
Exhibiting artists include:
Gina Pierce (England), Angela Burns (NI/Turkey), Birgit Schoenaker (Netherlands) , Pat Griffin (Northern Ireland), Alison Baxter (England) Ina Olohan (Ireland), Heather Richardson (northern Ireland), Hilary Cromie (Northern Ireland), Anna Smyth (Northern Ireland), Amy Higgins (Northern Ireland), Katie Larmour (Northern Ireland), Margaret B. Russell (USA), and Caroline Moore (Northern Ireland)
Curated by Linen Biennale Programme Manager Meadhbh McIlgorm, and RSpace Gallery Director Robert Martin, the show will be an opening exhibition for the 2023 Biennale ‘Revive and Renew’ on July 28th. A series of workshops will accompany the exhibition which can be booked via the Island Arts Centre.
The Linen Biennale is an initiative of R-Space Gallery. The 2023 event is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, made possible by money raised by National Lottery players. Common Threads takes place from Saturday 29th July to Saturday 26th August at the Island Arts Centre.
The Island Arts Centre is open Monday-Saturday 9.30am-4.30pm.
