Macramé Wreath Workshop
About the event
ASTRL Fibres and Bloom Studio Belfast have partnered up for a Woodstock Road collaboration on Sunday 6th August from 1pm to 4pm
Join macramé artist Alison and floristry artist Alessia for this in person workshop held in the ASTRL Fibres studio. Alison will introduce you to a basic knot library and provide expert guidance to help you understand and enjoy the process of making your own macramé wreath base. This base can be used inside or outside for years to come as you’ll be using a natural, hardy and weather resistant hemp flax rope. Alessia will guide you through the process of wreath making using a seasonal mix of fresh and dried flowers and foliage that will age beautifully as they dry.
Participants will gain insight on how to change up the wreath throughout the seasons and to create a unique design.
This workshop will cover:
Setting up your workstation
Understanding materials
Mounting techniques
Basic Spiral Knot
Suitable flowers and foliage
Wreath making
Hanging and display
Aftercare
All the materials you’ll need to complete a macramé wreath will be provided.
Participants are encouraged to bring a pair of light gardening gloves as hemp flax is hard on the hands.
