16 January 2025
Deadline:
A New Chapter in UK-Saudi Cultural Collaboration
The British Council and the Royal Commission for AlUla have signed an agreement to foster collaboration in heritage, capacity building, and knowledge exchange in Saudi Arabia. This partnership underscores the mutual commitment of both organisations to enriching the cultural landscape and empowering Saudi professionals through training and research.
As they commemorate their 90th anniversary, the British Council is proud to enter this new collaboration with RCU. Their goal is to make a meaningful contribution to the long-term quality of life of the AlUla community. Looking ahead to 2030 when KSA hosts the next world expo, they are keen to support AlUla in hosting some of the most ambitious cultural co-productions between the two Kingdoms.
For this first phase of partnership with RCU, the British Council invite applications from UK-based artists, cultural professionals, cultural organizations, and universities to apply for grants in the following sectors: Visual Arts; Performing Arts: Music and Theatre; Archaeology Heritage & Museums and Architecture; Design and Fashion. The grant scheme is designed to accelerate UK cultural engagement with AlUla and foster long-term partnerships between UK and Saudi counterparts. These grants are designed to identify opportunities for meaningful collaboration and creative exchange.
Applicants may apply for travel grants, collaborative grants or both depending on the project’s stage of development.
