Call for Applications: ‘Brilliant Generations’ Christmas Selling Exhibition

27 June 2024

Deadline: September 6, 2024

Craft NI Gallery are delighted to invite applications to their upcoming Christmas 2024 selling exhibition from craft makers!

Are you part of Northern Ireland’s brilliant craft generations? We want you to shine in our 2024 Christmas selling exhibition!

Titled  ‘Brilliant Generations’, this year’s Christmas exhibition will showcase the impressive creations of our local designer-makers. At a time when the festive spirit is high, we want to see their work light up winter – and the imagination of our craft audiences! Whether it is jewellery that sparkles, ceramics with an innovative twist, new exciting work in textiles or wood, we invite both emerging and established craft makers to apply and be part of this unique selling event. We look forward to seeing the output your skill and creativity combined generate  – and to delight and inspire NI audiences with your work.

Opening in early November, ‘Brilliant Generations’ will encompass key messages about what Northern Irish craft has to offer, and hint at the emotions associated with finding the perfect festive gift: awe at the skills and creativity of our local makers; the thrill of discovering a unique handcrafted gift; and the wonder of (re)discovering something new and exciting about craft (and craft makers) Northern Ireland.

Aiming to inspire discerning shoppers with new, exciting work,  ‘Brilliant Generations’ will be marketed as a must-see Christmas destination  – and we would like you to be part of the craft stories we will be sharing with our customers!

‘Brilliant Generations’ will be  promoted as a selling exhibition both in Craft NI Gallery and online via our exhibition website.The exhibition will benefit from seasonal photography, in-house marketing, paid and organic social media promotion, and will  target both our existing audience  and new customers in Northern Ireland and further afield. It will also benefit from an increased tourist footfall as Belfast is becoming a significant attraction for staycations / short trips during the winter months.

The Christmas exhibition accepts applications from all supported craft disciplines.

Submitted work needs to be:

– new work or, if you are a maker already selling through the Gallery,  work that has not been shown in the Gallery in the last two years;

– applications using drawings or works in progress will be accepted;

– we encourage submission of work that is suitable for Christmas gifting / ranges with various pieces (entry points as well as possibly a focal piece)

– our research of Craft NI Gallery’s customers average spend during November/December suggests (but is not be limited to) a £100-£500 price range.

– Own Art is available in Craft NI Gallery, allowing collectors to spread payments.

– If you are a craft retailer who also makes your own ranges, you may wish to consider this as an opportunity to reach new audiences.
