Call for submission: NIGAT Art Therapy Summer School 2024

2 May 2024

Deadline: May 10, 2024

The theme for NIGAT’s 2024 Art Therapy Summer School will be SYNCHRONICITY. 2024 is a Leap Year- A leap year keeps us in alignment, if we did not have it the world would be out of sync. A leap year gives us the time to catch up. “Synchronicity happens when we align with the flow of the universe rather than insisting the universe flow our way” Akemi G.

NIGAT invite applications to present and to deliver workshops, both must expand on various aspects of this theme, and relate to art as therapy, creativity and well-being. In your proposal, please describe how your presentation ties in with the theme.

Associated words and phrases can include; balance, harmony, peace, attunement, coincidence, out of sync, differing, conflict.

Presentations:

Past experience suggests that presentations work best when images are included, are interactive, and use small groups within the large group of 40/50 participants (where appropriate). Presenters must be entitled to work in the UK and be able to provide appropriate work documentation. Submissions for presentations are also open to those applying as workshop facilitators and are open to anyone working in the field of the arts and well-being or a related discipline. In planning your proposal, please keep in mind that the format for NIGAT’s Summer School is a weekend long and non-residential (Friday Evening – Sun afternoon). There are several presentations delivered in total throughout the weekend. Each presentation session is 1.5 hours.

Fees: Presenters £75

Travel: Reasonable travel expenses within Ireland and the UK will be covered.

Workshops:

NIGAT hope to have a choice of two closed workshops (7 hours total, 4 hours on Saturday, 3 hours on Sunday) and one stand-alone day workshop each day (fours on the Saturday, three hours on the Sunday).

From past experience we insist that workshop facilitators are qualified Arts Therapists in order to ensure the safety and well-being of participants. Workshop groups will be confined to a maximum of twelve people.  Facilitators must be entitled to work in the UK and be able to provide appropriate work documentation. Workshop facilitators are eligible to apply as presenters as well (see the presentation form separately, for details.)

Fees:Workshop facilitators £40 per hour

Travel: Reasonable travel expenses within Ireland and the UK will be covered.
