Congratulations to Cara Murphy

16 April 2021

The stunning trophy presented to the 2021 Grand National winner last Saturday was created by silversmith Cara Murphy from Hillsborough.  Commissioned by race sponsors Randox it was presented to Rachel Blackmore when she became the first woman jockey to scoop the top prize.

The design, featuring the double helix structure of DNA molecules, reflects current events in health and science with references to the diagnostic activities of Randox, the coronavirus itself and the contribution of key workers during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cara also designed and made the trophy for the 2020 race, which was cancelled at the last minute as the coronavirus pandemic took hold.
