Craft NI Maker Forum: Programme for Government Consultation

24 September 2024

Deadline:

The NI Executive is consulting the public on its draft Programme for Government for 2024-2027. Alongside the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and other arts organisations, Craft NI will be submitting a response—but we need your input!

The consultation is a good opportunity for us to demonstrate how a flourishing craft sector supports PfG goals for Northern Ireland: contributing to prosperity, growing livelihoods; placemaking and as an important part of NI’s cultural and visitor offer. But we want to hear from you what about what we need to achieve this: what works well; what we need more of; examples of good support in some areas that we could replicate?

IN-PERSON MAKER FORUM

Craft NI will be holding an in-person Maker Forum, facilitated by Brena Kent from Smith Kent Consulting,  to discuss your views and experiences that would allow us to feed in constructive ideas to demonstrate how a strong and flourishing craft sector should be part of Northern Ireland’s future.

Taking place on Thursday 10th October starting at 10am at the MAC, Belfast. Please RSVP by emailing lorna.towns@craftni.org.

About Brenda Kent: Smith Kent Consulting carried out the independent research  Building Resilience in the Craft Sector Post-Covid commissioned by Craft NI in 2021 into the  impact of Covid-19 on the craft sector in Northern Ireland. The partnership works extensively in the arts and has designed and delivered the first Belfast Stories’ engagement strategy and also carried out extensive consultation and equality impact assessment in the development of Belfast City Counci’s Cultural Strategy.
