11 September 2025
Five independent female studio jewellers from Ireland will exhibit at Romania Jewellery Week 2025, bringing with them a fresh wave of innovation, craftsmanship, and storytelling rooted in Irish identity and contemporary design.
This October, for the sixth edition of Romania Jewellery Week, these five contemporary jewellery artists will travel to Bucharest to exhibit their handcrafted fine jewellery on an international stage. Selected for this prestigious, curated event by an international jury, the exhibition will showcase cutting-edge work by jewellery designers from across the globe, championing the concept of wearable art and studio-based design from independent makers.
The participating artists represent a stylistic cross-section of Ireland’s growing contemporary jewellery scene. Hailing from Dublin, Kildare, Galway and Belfast, each jeweller works in precious metals and natural gemstones, interpreting their material each with a distinctly unique approach.
The exhibiting group include:
“It is exciting to showcase the wealth of Irish design and craftsmanship on an international stage,” says group member Vanessa Murtagh. “Our skills are founded on millennia of goldsmithing tradition, and reimagining how jewellery can be worn in our own unique design signatures means we have the opportunity to really show the diversity, innovation and craftsmanship born from a passion for creativity.”
From minimalist forms to expressive textures, from narrative-led pieces to technical experimentation, the work of these makers offers insight into Ireland’s evolving identity in contemporary design. While each jeweller creates under their own name and voice, the group is collaborating on a shared press and social media campaign ahead of the exhibition to spotlight Irish contemporary jewellery as both fine craft and cultural expression.
Romania Jewellery Week (October 2025) takes place in the National Library in Bucharest and is steadily becoming one of the most dynamic contemporary jewellery events in Europe. The 2025 edition is expected to draw collectors, curators, and artists from more than 40 countries.
