Intelligent Hands: Navigating Traditional Craft in the Digital Age
25 April 2024
Deadline: June 10, 2024
Join the Goldsmiths’ Centre and Katy Bevan, co-author of “Intelligent Hands: Why Making is a Skill for Life,” in an online talk as she explores the intersection of technology and craftsmanship. In a world dominated by artificial intelligence, is handwork at risk of extinction? Join the conversation and ponder the balance between embracing innovation and preserving the timeless art of handcraft.
As we hurtle into the fourth industrial revolution, we risk losing the craft skills that make humans unique. New technology could be a risk for makers. So perhaps we should make like the Luddites and put a spanner in the works in advancing technology, or do we embrace this new territory for our own creative benefit? There will be the opportunity to ask questions and join in the conversation.
