Living Heritage / Intangible Cultural Heritage Convention
16 April 2025

The response to the consultation on the 2003 UNESCO Convention for Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage has been released. You can find this here.
This consultation response provides a comprehensive overview of plans for the inventories. A call for submissions to the inventories will be released later this year.
Ahead of this, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport will host information sessions to discuss plans for the inventory process and outline opportunities for engagement. These sessions will consist of a presentation on the plans for community engagement during the inventory process and what public bodies, NGOs, networks and similar need to know about how they can get involved if interested.
Whilst these sessions will be public, they are specifically aimed at organisations and not the actual communities / practitioners who are interested in submitting to the inventories.
As will be addressed in the session, there will be a range of ways for the public to find information and support when the submissions open, but these information sessions will be targeted at organisations only.
When will they take place?
Two identical sessions will take place onWednesday 30th April 10-11:30am, and Friday 2nd May 1:30-3pm.
