Andrea Hayes is a Textile Artist based in Co.Tyrone, N.Ireland who uses a unique combination of Textiles, painting and metallic elements in her work.  A graduate from the National College of Art and Design Dublin, Andrea gained a first class hons degree in 2004.  Her arts practise was set up in 2006, creating and selling artworks and was placed in the prestigious Craft NI business start up programme “Making it” 2006-2008.

Andrea showcases her work through a small number of  galleries and design outlets and has exhibited her work through a number of selected exhibitions.

Artworks include a range of small scale framed and mounted textile pieces which are all indiviudally made by hand.  The variety of colourway created with hand dyed fabrics, intricate stitching and metallic highlights of copper have become a recognisable features in her work.

Larger scale mixed media pieces have been developed over the years inwhich Andrea uses her textile and painting skills onto an aluminium base to create these one off exhibition artworks.

Andrea works to commission regularly and has produced commissions for both private and public spaces.  She works as a part time arts & crafts community lecturer and facilitates art workshops for private groups,councils , both in specialist textile art crafts and general arts and crafts.
