Jewellery
Claire is a silversmith and artist. She works from her studio in North Down.
Claire’s love of different cultures from places she has lived informs her silversmithing collections featuring botanical subjects. Her curiosity for experimenting with ways to draw organic forms transfers to her silver work. Her silver collections are influenced by her detailed observations of light, shadow and texture, through her drawing and photography of the natural world. Her sketchbooks accompany her on her travels, especially on return trips to favourite places such as Italy and China, containing the germs of new ideas for her collections.
Claire’s jewellery brand began with an adventure in the province of Yunnan (meaning Cloud South) in China where she was fascinated by the vast jewellery markets and was drawn to red sea bamboo roses and freshwater pearls. Back in London she started her silversmithing journey, learning to claw-set her treasures at Flux Studios, newly opened and just around the corner from her home in Camberwell. From there she quickly started exhibiting, selling and being selected for galleries and online stores. Through workshops she was taught by some of London’s top silversmiths, always working to refine her practice with a focus on organic form.
Claire continues to learn new silversmithing skills, adding to her collections and growing in her creative practice as an artist.
