Ceramics
Corinne Price is a ceramicist with a focus on pigmented porcelain who creates colourful sculptural vessels which trace the time and movement involved in their making.
About
A Northern Ireland based ceramicist, I grew up under the open skies of the Dee Estuary in North West England. Using pigmented porcelain, I create colourful sculptural vessels which trace the time and movement involved in their making. By integrating pigment into the clay body, rather than applying it afterwards as a decorative surface, I am able to effectively build in colour.
Inspired by the expression of movement in water and air, sunrises and sunsets, and the flow of energy in and around bodies and objects, I layer ripples of colours in a manner suggestive of rock strata, waves, flames, or wisps of smoke. Drawn to the versatility and sometimes unpredictability of clay, embracing imperfection, I endeavour to infuse spaces with joy and optimism through the presence of my colourful forms.
