Debbie McCann is the designer/maker behind Wee Yarn Designs. Based in County Down, Debbie designs and creates contemporary hand knit accessories in natural yarns, Dorset button jewellery and artwork. Debbie also facilitates workshops and demonstrations in this fascinating, heritage craft.

Bio

Debbie graduated from the Ulster University, Belfast where she studied Fashion & Textile Design, specialising in Constructed Textiles. She designs and creates hand knit accessories, with ranges for adults, children and babies.

In 2015 Debbie discovered the Dorset Button…. she soon became hooked and as well as designing a range of Dorset Button jewellery and artwork, she facilitates workshops and demonstrations in this fascinating, heritage craft.

She has worked with museums, schools, local theatre companies and craft groups with participants ranging in age from 12 – 85!

Using an earthy colour palette based on the use of yarns such as merino, silk, cashmere, and alpaca, Debbie also uses hand-dyed yarn sourced near her home in County Down.

Debbie’s hand-crafted accessories exhibit a clear contemporary edge while still acknowledging use of traditional hand-crafted skills.
