Jan Campbell Fine Jewellery
Silversmithing & Goldsmithing
I am a goldsmith, working primarily in precious metals with precious and semi-precious gems. For the most part I examine aspects of nature and reflect them in my work. I love the area in which I live and want to spread the message of its beauty far and wide. My work appeals to the Irish diaspora and those closer to home! I use traditional goldsmithing techniques to implement my ideas and all my work is hand made in workshop at home in Newtownards, Co Down, Northern Ireland. Through my work I want to bring people closer to each other and the natural beauty around us.
I returned to further education as an ‘adult’ and started out learning Fashion and Textiles. After 4 years of that I returned and studied dimensional jewellery for another 3 years. I found forming jewellery using a torch, drill and saw very empowering!
I now work from home and fit it around my family. (well that’s the theory) and I mean literally! My tools, materials and dyes are just about in every room of our house!
We live in a beautiful part of the world. It rains a fair amount here in Ireland, that’s why it’s so green. Maybe that’s why I like it so much.
I am inspired by my surroundings, plants, wildlife and Irish iconography, and use this as inspiration for my work.
I am now an “award winning jeweller” and although not good at blowing my own trumpet, I take immense pride in my work and the service I provide.
