Bio

Born and raised in a small seaside town I’ve grown up enjoying the outdoors and the beauty of nature.

Pottery was never a career I envisioned for myself, mostly as I didn’t know it existed, but rather I stumbled upon it and got hooked.

My making skillset went from strength to strength as I continued through art college in Belfast and most importantly with the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland ‘Pottery Skills Course’.

Through my education I’ve always tried to keep a balance between making and doing. Looking back to my studies I can see that time spent in my outdoors club, rowing team or general adventuring greatly inspired my creativity. Since establishing ‘Natasha Swan ceramics’ in 2019 I have continued to draw on my surroundings as my inspiration, leading to the launch of my signature range- The Neutrals. Each piece in the neutrals is finished with a simple and tactile quality reflective of the white pebbled beaches, rocky footpaths and tranquility of Islandmagee.

Each month through 2021 I have challenged myself to created a batch of limited edition mugs inspired by an important date within the month. This challenge has helped my push my making boundaries and keep creativity flowing from my small studio.
