Textiles, Mixed Media
Fibre artist PenOfM specialises using wool fibre to create textiles and three-dimensional forms.
PenOfM is a fibre and textile artist with a rich background in both fashion and ceramics. She studied at Bradford College and later earned a Fine Arts Degree from Derby University in 1997.
With over two decades of experience in art education, PenOfM worked as a ceramics tutor at Harrogate College, where she specialised in teaching students with special needs. She then obtained a postgraduate qualification in Art Therapy and transitioned into psychiatry. She is a strong advocate for the importance of craft skills, art, and the creative process in education, cultural understanding, and mental well-being.
Her artwork is inspired by themes related to the natural environment, particularly the ancient moorlands and coasts. She has a specific interest in the symbiotic relationships between nature and humanity. Through her creations, PenOfM aims to establish a seamless unity between her subject matter, environmental influences, and the core materials used.
She has exhibited her work in Northern Ireland and throughout England. Additionally, PenOfM is a member of Fibre Art Now, the Embroiderers’ Guild London, and the International Felt Association. In 2025, she was selected as one of ten finalists for the SCAF Emerging Artist Award.
