Northword NI

2 February 2022

Six creative practitioners from the Causeway Coast & Glens and Mid & East Antrim Borough Council areas were successful in their application to the “Northword Creative Practitioners Call”.  Each received funding to develop a new showcase piece inspired by a local story.

The Northword project aims to use the power of storytelling to support creative industries in remote areas and enhance the online presence of small businesses. It also seeks to draw on and support long traditions of storytelling in northern locales and encourage communities to rediscover and celebrate local tales.

The creators involved in this project include;

  • Colin Urwin
  • Michelle Mcgarvey
  • Sasha McVey Ceramics
  • Gerard from Taisie Turning
  • Claire & Beccy from VOKXEN
  • Angela from Leopard & Lily

You can discover how each creative took inspiration from six local stories and brought them to life through upcoming workshops and events. Learn more about the makers here.

Northword is co-funded by the Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme of the European Union and draws on the experience and expertise of a range of international partners in Northern Ireland, Scotland, Russia, Sweden, and Finland.
